A corpse, believed to be that of a North African, was fished out of the sea by an Armed Forces of Malta patrol boat about 2.5 nautical miles off Wied iż-Żurrieq yesterday morning.

It is the second corpse found at sea in less than 24 hours.

The corpse, which may have been in the water for some time in view of the advanced stage of decomposition, was spotted by fishermen near Filfla.

It was transported to Haywharf, Pietà on board the patrol boat.

The first body was found on Tuesday some eight miles off Delimara.
