The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) said today that it determined 739 applications in April and received 591 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,801.

During April the authority processed 160 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 91 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 69 in Malta and 22 in Gozo.

In April 2008, 69 enforcement cases were concluded, 64 in Malta and five in Gozo. A total of 46 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another 22 cases were resolved since owners decided to remove illegal development and comply with enforcement notice. During the same month a case was withdrawn by MEPA.
