Corpse found off Delimara

An AFM patrol boat yesterday evening recovered the corpse of a man who appeared to be of African origin, floating some eight miles off Delimara.

Police sources said the man had been wearing jeans, a jacket and an orange life vest. He was brought ashore at Haywharf at about 6 p.m. and taken to the mortuary at Mater Dei Hospital.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona opened an inquiry and appointed various court experts.

An autopsy will be held today.
