Not all widows and widowers are entitled to the Widow's Pension. Those widows who fall within one of the first three categories described below are entitled to the Widow's Pension. However, those widows who fall under the fourth category are not entitled to any benefits whatsoever.
1. Widows who are gainfully employed citizens and parents of underage children;
2. Widows who do not work and are parents of underage children;
3. Widows who do not work and have no children who are underage.
4. Widows who, as in my case, are gainfully employed citizens and have children (over 18) living with them at home. Moreover, persons who belong to the first three situations described above may also benefit from the salary of their new partner if they choose to re-marry, while still receiving the Widow's Pension for five years after the marriage.
I feel that widows like me whose situation is that described in the fourth category above are being discriminated against.
I hope that this anomaly will be given it's due consideration by those responsible.
