Air Malta flying to Leipzig Halle
Air Malta has added Leipzig Halle as its sixth destination to Germany, flying there twice a week.
The airline expects that in the first six months this new route will bring to Malta over 11,000 new tourists, following the positive results it has achieved on all its other German routes throughout this winter.
The Wednesday flight departs from Malta International Airport at 4.10 p.m., arriving at 6.55 p.m. while the Sunday flight leaves at 7 a.m., arriving in Leipzig at 9.45 a.m. The return flight on Wednesdays leaves from Leipzig at 7.40 p.m. arriving at 10.25 p.m. while the Sunday flight departs at 10.35 a.m. arriving in Malta at 1.20 p.m.
Leipzig is located in heart of the Saxony Region and is a destination for trade fairs, conferences and exhibitions. It is also a centre of culture, nightlife and shopping, boasting remarkable renaissance and baroque buildings.

As a Nuremberg resident I strongly support Mr. Schembri's suggestion. Planning my next visit to Malta for July I have just found out yesterday that there is no direct flight from NUE to MLA at the moment. All offers available include a domestic flight and are therefore astronomically priced. To board a reasonably priced direct flight I will now have to trave to Munich, which is the airport in quickest reach by train (not necessarily as the crow flies, but most German traffic routes are everything but straight lines). This means something like an hour on a high-speed train plus a tedious trip through the whole of Munich on the local overground. Going to Munich by car is not an option as the Autobahns around Munich are pretty similar to the English M25 and -- as at any other airport -- parking fees are a bad joke.
In view of the fact that aside from the cultural heritage and the attractive Franconian landscape Mr. Schembri refers to the Nuremberg region is one of Germany's largest metropolitan areas and home to many major industries (Adidas, Puma, Siemens, Areva, INA-Schaeffler, or Playmobil, to name just a few brand names) I suppose I am not the only person who would gratefully welcome Nuremberg to be added to the list of Air Malta destinations. So, yes, Air Malta, be bold!

The more the merrier. A stopover in Nuremberg will be wonderful especially now that Air Berlin have stopped operating for the summer months. I have just returned from Nuremberg where a Venetian festival was being inaugurated on the river Pegnitz it was an eye-opener and the number of tourist from all over Europe was something to be believed. My visit was an invitation to a Forum on Bohemianism, the subjects were Albrecht Durer and Hans Sachs, both bred lived and died in this city, this experience was something that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Nurembeg is a beautiful city, it was reduced to rubble during the second World War, to see it today, rebuilt exactly and with the same stone and cobbled street that adorned this city centuries ago is a marvel. Besides, the people I met that know Malta and also been here for holidays was another reason for my request to at least a stop-over in the months of summer will be beneficial to tourism both ways, a visit to Nuremberg for Maltese that will like to savour the beauty a of Bavaria will be unforgettable, within a short distance you can appreciate the magnificence of lakes and forest or the montainous surround. So come on Air Malta, be bold.
