New board to oversee roads directorate
Simon Vella has been appointed Executive Chairman of the Malta Transport Authority (ADT). David Stellini is deputy chairman.
The new board also includes directors Chris Degiorgio, Malcolm Custò, Winston Zahra Jr, Veronica Zammit Tabona and Helen Camilleri.
The Ministry for the Infrastructure, Transport and Communications said that in order to improve the overseeing structure on the building and maintenance of roads, a specific board had also been set up to oversee the National Infrastructure Directorate, responsible for roads. This board will be chaired by Joe Fenech Conti. John Borg will be Deputy Chairman with Sammy Rapa, Jonathan Vella and Ray Busuttil, directors.

Some help to the two newly-appointed boards....here is a list of the roads which are in dire need of reconstruction/resurfacing
Pitkali Road, Attard
Durumblat Road, Attard
Triq San Pawl tal-Qliegha, Mosta
Vjal il-Labour, Naxxar
Triq is-Salib Imqaddes in Birkirkara has been in the same horrible state for months now...or should i say a decade!
Sliema Road, Sliema/Gzira
Ghajn Dwieli Road Paola
Triq it-Tlett Ibliet, Bormla,
Triq San Frangisk Bormla
Triq san Pawl Bormla,
Triq Panzavecchia Isla
Triq ix-Xatt ta' Bormla
Triq 10 ta Settembru Zabbar
Triq il-Kunsill ta L-Ewropa Zabbar
Triq Tal-Labour Zabbar
The road linking Hompesch arch (roundabout) to Zejtun is in shambles. guess nobody important passes from there, except the common man in the street.
Triq il-Qasam Industrjali, Zabbar
Vjal Millbrae Mosta
and the list goes on....these are only a few of the worst roads that come to mind!
oh, and one cannot forget the never laid road of Triq Nazzareno Sammut in Qrendi!!!
good luck to the new boards. We all hope that your work will be put in practice within the next couple of months....even though it is summer we hope that this will be no excuse to sleep over the road....we have enough sleeping policemen for that...which definitely do not allow us to sleep on our roads...apart from the holes!....
and what about some standards on "sleeping policemen" please?! we are all tired of leaving part of our cars behind.
If I may add another road to your list, I would include Triq il-Kunsill ta' L-Ewropa: the road linking Cottoner Avenue in Fgura to Cottonera (and Smart City in the near future), which once resurfaced will reduce the volume of traffic from Fgura.
Marsascala. This road is also in a very bad state, especially the stretch of road leaving Zabbar. It is about time that the roads networks in the south of Malta are given a priority now. It is shameful that when travelling in the north of Malta one can enjoy very good roads and when returning to my home town it is like going back to the middle ages.
