British police yesterday said they had made one of the country's biggest cocaine seizures, netting drugs with a street value of £15 million (€19.2 million) and arresting seven men.
Some 140 kilogrammes of cocaine were found after police stopped and searched two vehicles at an unidentified British port on Saturday, police in Cumbria, northwest England, said.
"This is one of the biggest mainland seizures ever seen in the UK," a police statement said. "This is a major breakthrough in the fight against the illegal trafficking of cocaine."
The police said their investigation was continuing and a number of private and business addresses throughout Britain were being searched.
