Family Mamo's gratitude
My sisters Josephine and Monica and I would like, through the medium of The Times, to thank the Maltese for the great show of respect, solidarity and affection they showed on the demise of our father Sir Anthony Mamo.
We also wish to express our immense gratitude to their Excellencies the President of the Republic of Malta, Edward Fenech Adami and Mrs Fenech Adami who were so close to the family, as they always have been, both during the state funeral as well as the private ceremony held at St Helen's Basilica in Birkirkara; to the Honorable Prime Minister, Lawrence Gonzi who generously and personally supervised the organisation of the state part of the funeral and who set up the working team from the various government ministeries and entities who planned and executed the various stages of the proceedings to perfection; and to His Grace the Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona who kindly postponed an important trip abroad to preside over the concelebration of Mass at St John's Co-Cathedral.
