Your sudden departure left us all speechless Neville. We, who form part of Past Pupils of St Albert's College, who grew up together from a very tender age, find it very difficult to write about you. Not because there is not much to write about but because of the way our Lord took you away so suddenly from us.
I have known Neville since our school days where we both practiced the same sport at the time - he was a versatile and dedicated footballer. I remember everyone wanted to be in his team so that at the end of the term we would get a reward.
When I had in mind to organise a group of past pupils he was one of many who encouraged me. He ascertained that if I wanted the group, we must keep the e-mails clean.
There were times when I was low in spirit and felt discouraged. But there was always a sign from him to encourage me. I used to meet him at Balluta Church and with gentle manners his attractive smile kept me going.
Ġus you made it! He had a way of encouraging a faint heart and finding the silver lining in every cloud.
Two days before you left us Neville, I phoned you at work since you weren't contributing much on group matters and you told me that you were not feeling well but you confirmed that the appointment of going to have a Hobż biż-Żejt with some other friends was still on.
What a pity I lost you so suddenly as I know many others would have been pleased to see us in photos at your favourite restaurant.
Many now realise the immense void you left behind which everybody thought would never ever happen so imminent, because to many, you, Neville, somehow always seemed to have been there, and will always remain there, forever.
Neville, on behalf of our group I ask you look over us. As you once told me it, is not the amount of life but the quality which is important.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family. On behalf of the Old Boys of St Albert's College you are closer to the Almighty, where you can intervene for us.
