Romanians admit selling fake items

Six Romanians included a minor this afternoon admitted before Magistrate Doreen Clarke to having sold fake gold items in Malta.

The Romanians, including a minor, live in Malta but have no fixed address.

The minor was conditionally discharged while the others were given a five-month jail term suspended for three years.

Inspector Therese Sciberras prosecuted. Dr Renzo Porcella Flores was legal aid.

In another arraignment, Raymond Abela, 41 of Birkirkara was accused of having resisted the police, disobeyed police orders and threatened police constables in an incident in St Julians’ Road, Birkirkara, yesterday evening. He was also accused of unlawful possession of a knife.

He was handed down a six month jail term suspended for two years.

Insepctors Anton Taliana and Nicolai Sant prosecuted. Dr Robert Montalto was defence counsel.
