Prickly-pear breaks man's fall
A 27-year old man from Swieqi was rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta's Air Wing yesterday and airlifted to hospital for urgent treatment after he fell in Wied id-Dis, limits of Madliena.
The man's fall seems to have been broken by some large prickly-pear fronds on the slope beneath a three-storey bridge, where he landed, the AFM said.
The Civil Protection Department's rescuers, who were first on site, requested the casualty's airlift at 2.45 p.m. An emergency medical team was also present on site to apply immediate trauma care on the man, while police carried out its investigations.
