A 24-year-old man from Zurrieq was critically injured in a collision between a Seat Ibiza car and a truck carrying gas cylinders this morning.

The accident happened in Council of Europe Road, Luqa, at about 6 a.m. Members of the Civil Protection Department were called to the scene to help release the trapped driver from the wreckage of his car.

The road, which leads towards the airport, has been closed.
