Norwegian and Volareweb are the latest airlines to start operations to Malta with direct flights from Oslo and Milan.

Norwegian AS is operating two flights a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, departing from the Norwegian capital at 2.05 p.m. and leaving Malta at 7.10 p.m.

It is one of Europe's leading low-fare airlines, having started operations in September 2002 with four domestic routes and six B737-300 aircraft.

Norwegian operates 130 routes - 11 domestic and 119 international - serviced with a fleet of 24 B737-300 aircraft in a 148-seater configuration.

Budget airline Volareweb.com started operations to Malta with three direct services a week from Milan Malpensa. The airline flies on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Volare SpA was founded in April 2006 by incorporating the services provided by the Volare Group and its subsidiaries Volare Airlines and Air Europe. Volare has managed to develop a sustained activity based on the experience it has in the industry mainly through Air Europe's and Volare Airlines' operations with a mix of domestic, international and long-distance flights.

With the brand Volareweb.com, the airline's objective is to become a leading company in the realm of the Italian and European web airlines by offering a service tailored to customer requirements, offering competitive prices.

The airline is based in Milan and operates to seven domestic destinations and eight international airports.

Volareweb.com is expanding its network with further operations this summer through the introduction of four new international routes as well as Malta.

Norwegian and Volareweb's operations to the island are the result of negotiations which Malta International Airport plc and the Malta Tourism Authority have concluded in their efforts to attract more business.
