Six cruise liners call at Grand Harbour

Six cruise liners carrying 12,799 passengers berthed at Grand Harbour today, packing the capital with tourists.

VISET Malta plc said the Pacific Venus was carrying 429 passengers, MSC Sinfonia 1,900 passengers, and Costa Concordia 3,440 passengers. There were 2,622 passengers onboard the Costa Atlantica; 3,169 on the Costa Fortuna and 1,239 on the Grand Mistral.

“The cruise liner industry is important business for Malta and an important link in the tourism chain,” said Chris Paris, VISET general manager.

“We are finally reaping the benefits of the work we have been putting into the industry and it is with great satisfaction that we note these rising figures. By the end of the year we expect to reach the half million mark. This success is a pleasant reality thanks to the cooperation of all the players concerned.”
