The volume and wholesale value of fish landings in the first three months went up by 52.9 per cent and 72.1 per cent respectively over the first quarter of last year, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said.

According to the NSO, 136,246 kilos of fresh fish, yielding €367,446, were landed.

The marked rise resulted from increased landings of swordfish and shrimp when compared to the same period last year.
