The owner of a bottle shop in Paceville yesterday filed a judicial protest against the Police Commissioner complaining that he had been ordered to close his shop at 11 p.m. when his licence did not restrict his opening and closing times.

In the protest filed in the First Hall of the Civil Court, John Bonello, the owner of Hole in the Wall, claimed that on April, 25 he was approached by a policeman at 11 p.m. who ordered him to close the shop immediately because he was breaching his licence conditions.

According to Mr Bonello, the licence issued by the police for him to operate does not lay down any restrictions on opening or closing times.

He is holding the Police Commissioner responsible for any damages incurred due to closing and asked the Commissioner to refrain from treating him in the same way in the future.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto signed the protest.
