I have just returned home after an afternoon tending my fields, where I witnessed a rare and enchanting spectacle.

It has been a very long time since I saw a falcon hovering above the ground in search of harmful rats. Imagine my surprise when I saw not one but three at the same time.

The cherry on the cake was a flock of beautiful bee-eaters which came within a few metres from me to let me enjoy their spectacular colours. I spent over half an hour enjoying the scene and fortunately not one shot was fired.

Long live the hunting ban.
