May 9 EU Funds - What's in it for me!
In order to provide a brief overview of some of the EU's funding programmes and explain their modalities, Impetus Europe Consulting Group Ltd is organising a free half-day seminar, on May 9, entitled EU Funds - What's in it for ME!. This seminar will focus on four distinct EU funding programmes: the seventh research framework programme (FP7), the competitiveness and innovation programme (CIP), the lifelong learning programme (LLP) and the European structural fund (ESF).

May 12-14 Second international convention on a regional and local approach to development
This second international convention will provide the opportunity to take forward the vision of a territorial approach to development through local governance. Participants will hear more about the political, institutional, financial, operational and cultural challenges the regions have to face. Regional policy commissioner Danuta Hübner will present the role of cohesion policy in the successive enlargements of the European Union. Four simultaneous workshops will focus on the role of the regions in the development of territories. The event will be held in Tangiers, Morocco.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of EMU, this year's Brussels Economic Forum will take the experiences, challenges and successes of the first decade of EMU as its topic. Speakers will include EU leaders and economists who were involved in the preparations for EMU.

May 15-16 European matchmaking summit on mobile and e-technologies
The First European Matchmaking Summit on Mobile and E-Technologies will take place at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO) in Stuttgart, Germany on May 15 and 16. The event will bring together different companies and institutions ‒ including private companies, public administrations, research institutes and universities ‒ to present current and to brainstorm on future initiatives from six main application areas in mobile information and communications technology (ICT).

May 20-21 Innovation at the service of regional growth
The workshop will present successful examples from regions already benefiting from satellite information and services, and discussions on issues such as decision-making, financing mechanisms, cost and implementation difficulties will be held. President of the committee of the regions, Michel Delebarre and the commissioner for regional policy Danuta Hübner will take part in the event in Dublin, Ireland.

As the integration of Europe's internal market gets deeper, EU procedures on state aid are becoming more and more relevant. The training event will give individuals a basic idea on the EU state aid are concepts, what kinds of aid are permissible for investment, the notification of state aid and the various exceptions that exist. The event will gather know-how from European and international port and academic experts on the strategies and tools port managers have at their disposal to respond to these challenges.
