Job-shadowing exercise for form IV students

The Ġużeppi Despott (Verdala) Boys Junior Lyceum, a school forming part of St Margaret's College, is holding a one- week job-shadowing experience for Form IV students until Saturday.

The main aim of the project is for students to undergo an educational experience, enabling them to have a feel of the world of work while motivating them to continue their studies at a post-secondary level. Another aim is to help them develop the social skills necessary to operate in a rapidly changing work environment.

About 120 students have been posted to over 30 workplaces. Over the past weeks, the school has worked with the students to ensure they are well prepared for this experience.

The school also developed close contacts with the workplaces to ensure the experience would be a positive one for them.

The workplaces include local councils, a hotel, media production houses, a printing press, an old people's home, kindergartens, an architect's office and a hospital, among others.
