Labour leadership race
Former minister joins the race
Labour MP Gavin Gulia yesterday formally announced his candidature for the post of Labour Party deputy leader for party affairs.
"I believe the Labour Party has the potential to win the support of the majority through reformed policies and structures that will appeal to more people," Dr Gulia said.
Soon after he expressed an interest in running for the post, Dr Gulia held discussions with party delegates, committees and branches throughout Malta and intended to maintain such a close contact.
Dr Gulia was elected to Parliament in four general elections, in 1996, 1998, 2003 and 2008. He served as Parliamentary Secretary for the Self Employed and later Minister for Justice during the 1996 - 1998 Labour government.
The other declared candidate for this post so far are Toni Abela, a former president of the party, and Labour MP's Carmelo Abela and Chris Cardona.

Personally, I believe Gavin Gulia would be great for such a post considering his credentials and experience. Moreover, he appeals to the moderates not just Labourites...which is what we really need.
Good Luck and may the best man win.
