Burning question

I am appealing for the readership's help in locating a particular type of fuel that is proving difficult to find.

A couple of years ago I bought a decorative yet functional fire from the now-closed BI Stores in Sliema. This fire has an open stainless steel bowl in which it burns a smokeless, odourless alcohol-based fuel called Alfratol. Unfortunately, since the closure of BI Stores I have not been able to find this fuel anywhere else in Malta and my stock is almost exhausted.

I would be very pleased to hear from any stockists of this fuel or from readers who have found themselves in the same situation as myself.

I would also be interested to know whether or not it would be possible to safely convert this type of fire to operate on bottled gas.

Any assistance that readers are able to offer through these pages would be gratefully received.
