Seminar on animal neutering

Neutering all the stray animals on the island is a mammoth task, but one that needs to be undertaken, the SPCA said.

In the light of that fact, it will be holding a seminar entitled Trap, Neuter and Release at the Fortina Hotel, Tigné, on Saturday, sponsored by WSPA and Snip International.

The seminar is open to all vets, local councillors, cat and dog feeders and NGOs. But anyone who has the interest of Malta's animals at heart and would like to get involved in any capacity is also welcome, the SPCA said.

The neutering campaign was proposed to the government by SPCA Malta and Gozo, Island Sanctuary, Noah's Ark and the National Cat Society, which have joined forces under the Malta Association of Shelters and Sanctuaries.

The initiative has the backing of the government, which is passing the new animal welfare legislation and forming an enforcement team to help ensure the success of the campaign.
