A married couple were yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of €50 (Lm21.45) after they pleaded not guilty to violently resisting the police.
Frans Scerri, 57, and Francis Scerri, 56, pleaded not guilty to violently resisting the police and breaching the public peace on Sunday afternoon.
Mr Scerri also pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring Ryan Briffa and threatening him.
Mrs Scerri pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring Police Constable Alfred Camilleri.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Silvio Meli, heard that the Scerris, who care for an 86-year-old woman living with them, have had to put up with noise pollution for the past six years. After calling the police to deal with the noise that was disturbing the household, the situation got out of hand with the overzealous couple.
Police Inspectors Elton Taliana and Nikolai Sant prosecuted.
Lawyer Joe Mifsud appeared for Mrs Scerri and lawyer Joe Brincat appeared for Mr Scerri.
