Electoral pledge number 258 of the gonzipn electoral manifesto stated boldly that "Appointments on government boards will be made following a public call for applications".

Since during the last month and a half the Gonzi government has already appointed a new executive MCA chairman, as well as the board of directors of Freeport Corporation, Malta Maritime Authority, Enemalta, MOBC and the Malta Drydocks, I have been approached by some constituents asking me whether the Gonzi government is already in breach of its electoral manifesto pledge number 258.
