Is it too much to ask for a little more professionalism and a little less jingoism in the morning talk shows on the local TV stations? In the matter of two days the presenter of one breakfast programme that dealt with the beauty of California had this to say when people were encouraged to visit California: "I really do not think much of American culture. In fact I do not think they have a culture..." referring to the country that has for the last 70 years at least, driven world culture in terms of music, theatre, musical theatre, movies etc.

The birthplace of jazz, rock and roll, pop music etc, and where on any given day one can take one's pick of hundreds of stage plays in every city or town, has no culture!

The next day this same presenter raved about Maltese history which "beats" that of any other country! Please, a little more seriousness. Thank goodness the programmes are in Maltese and so only locals follow them.
