President on two-day visit to Żebbuġ

The President and Mrs Fenech Adami yesterday visited Żebbuġ in Gozo on the first of a two-day official visit.

Dr Fenech Adami said that NGOs working in the religious, sport and cultural spheres strengthened Christian values, which are the basis of the national identity. He was speaking during a meeting with representatives of 13 NGOs where he was accompanied by mayor Carmel Saliba.

One of the stops was the village square where the President and his wife met children who came along to have their pets blessed by Archpriest Ruben Micallef.

The programme of events included visits to Qbajjar to watch children sailing and where Mrs Fenech Adami visited several families.

Other stops included the salt pans nearby and a meeting with the small community of Marsalforn.
