Police: No allegations of man having been beaten
The police said no allegations had been made against them that a person who had escaped from their headquarters and died after jumping off a wall had been beaten during an interrogation and dumped there.
The police referred to an article published in this morning's MaltaToday and said the inquiring magistrate had heard the testimony of Nicholas Azzopardi, who died three hours later.
Mr Azzopardi’s evidence was given directly to the magistrate with no one else being present.
The police said they had confidence in the magisterial inquiry, now in an advanced stage, and are awaiting its result.

Is there a particular reason why they're still not resolved more then 30 years later

Yes, Rita and Jimmy are so right!
The beatings and murders which happened in the 70s are still unresolved while this latest unfortunate incident is under a magisterial investigation and the facts will be known shortly.
Most respectable citizens are not trigger happy and will wait patiently until all evidence is documented, examined by the magistrate and reported to the relevant authorities. I am sure that if progress reports are given to the Minister while the investigation is still ongoing, someone will complain of political interference.

there are no comments because to some people these things only happened back in the 70s or 80s and a big fuss would be made with tv programs ,But there is a Nationalist government, so shut up they can do nothing wrong.

I am very shocked about the story and about the fact that no citizens' comments have been made about this horrific story that is being put into the shade through the excuse that there is a Magisterial inquiry.
Although I have read the statement made by Minister C Mifsud Bonnici I do not think the Government can remain silent and await the inquiry. I am quite sure that internally there were reports submitted to the Minister, as this is normal operating procedure and the people involved should be known to the authorities.
Even if the deceased escaped police custody, this still means that there are ineffective controls and those responsible have to be accountable to their superiors.
The Government must come clean about the whole affair. People are asking questions and seeking explanations.
