Five injured in Floriana crash, two critical

Two young women are in a critical condition and three others were slightly injured after a horrific car crash in Floriana early yesterday morning.

A 21-year-old driver from Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq and another woman, also 21 from Attard, were hospitalised after suffering serious injuries when their car ploughed into a tree in National Road, close to Portes des Bombes.

Three other passengers, an 18-year-old from Mosta, a 26-year-old from Rabat, and a 22-year-old from Sliema suffered slight injuries, according to police. Members of the Civil Protection Department were required to assist people out of the vehicle, before an ambulance took them to hospital.

Duty magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera appointed several experts to conduct an inquiry. The police are investigating.
