G.F. Abela Junior College, Msida, recently hosted delegations of students and teachers from Italian and Polish high schools and vocational colleges for the third meeting of the Comenius project 'Entrepreneurial school education of students, priority of the new European Constitution'.
The participating local and foreign students attended an academic programme at the college, a talk on entrepreneurship by young Maltese entrepreneur David Falzon of Tenovar Ltd, and a visit to the Alf. Mizzi and Sons' warehouses to understand the reality of running a business.
The students also set up stands in college foyer to promote tourism in their respective countries. The stands were adjudicated by MTA representative Jolene Caruana, who judged the Polish stand as the best.
During their stay, the delegations also visited Delicata Winery for a wine tasting session, went on guided excursions to Mdina, Mosta and Valletta, and a full-day trip to Gozo, which included a sampling of local food products at Magro Brothers' Savini Centre for Creativity.
In the coming weeks a teachers' meeting to discuss a exchange of teachers and students will be held in Trescore Balneario, Bergamo, while the next project meeting is scheduled to be held in September in Mszana Dolna, Poland.
The college's participation in the project is funded by the European Commission through the European Union Programmes Unit.
