Online fashion store open for business

An online fashion store based in Malta and targeted at local customers opened its virtual doors yesterday.

The store - www.lifeisfashion.com - aims to bring high-quality Italian fashion to Malta at lower prices than if sold in a shop because of much lower running costs.

Company managing director Brendan Borg said online shopping was becoming more popular with consumers. Items will be delivered free of charge and customers will be entitled to a 15-day cooling-off period during which they can change any items.

Although the online store is kicking off with fashion items from three Italian brands - Angel Devil, Antony Morato and Korakor - Mr Borg did not exclude the possibility of more being added in the future.

Comparing the effort behind LifeIsFashion.com to Boo.com is way too unfair on this local entrepreneur. Boo.com happened back in the 90's, cradled in Silicon Valley with millions of dollars in investment. History tells us that what really brought down Boo.com was the e-commerce technology that at the time was still at its infancy. A quick search shows us immediately that although Boo.com died, soon after the clothing/retail industry developed ways and means to run a sustainable business online. As a matter of fact this industry is amongst the top sellers online in the US.

So let us not be so pessimistic just because it is a Maltese effort. Best of luck to Brendan and his team.

the site is online, however the name is wrong! it should read: www.loveisfashion.com, not lifeisfashion.com

no wonder no one could hit the right link!

anyway, personally i found the items available far too young for me, and frankly rather expensive.
good luck to mr. borg and kudos for entrepreneurship.

your store is clearly not on-line yet and it was very frustrating to try to find you after your article in The Times. I am not impressed at the wasted time spent trying to find your site.

Not sure if I pressed the wrong link....but a really unfriendly site came up. I am sure this is not what the owners intended to present.
Not only that back some years this concept was tried I believe by a number of investors under the trade name of boo.com. It siezed operations soon after. The concept of fashion/ Internet is difficult to take off. Notwithstanding, best of luck for this new endevour and please do something about that website.

Just clicked on the link - this site has clearly not launched! It is currently just a selection of probably sponsored links to other online retailers - all abroad. Quite misleading!
