Motorist charged with manslaughter

A 29-year-old woman has been charged with the involuntary homicide of a French man when she allegedly ran him over last year.

Kelly Dimitri, from Marsascala, pleaded not guilty to the involuntary homicide of Jean Philippe Castellano while she was driving through Santa Margerita Street in Cospicua on April 14, 2007 at 1 p.m.

She also pleaded not guilty to driving recklessly and at an excessive speed.

Magistrate Antonio Vella heard that Mr Castellano had been crossing the road when he was hit.

He succumbed to his injuries some time later in hospital.
