The Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (Mcast) said today it was 'very surprised' to learn that the Malta Union of Teachers had directing lecturing staff to strike on Wednesday after having discussed “the last revised agreement as proposed by Mcast".

The college said that what the MUT was referring to as the “agreement as proposed by Mcast had actually been negotiated thoroughly with the MUT delegation and agreement had been reached on practically all issues.

"In fact, the MUT had publicly expressed satisfaction about its good relations with Mcast management.

The college urged the union to continue the talks rather than taking industrial action that will negatively affect students.
