The Ministry for Infrastructure, Transport and Communications yesterday offered employers seeking ICT human resources the opportunity to recruit ICT students.

The ministry said that its ICT Student Placement Programme is a cost-effective opportunity for employers to source additional resources and ICT-related skills for defined periods of time during the summer recess. ICT students could contribute to organisations with knowledge of new technologies, new ideas and fresh enthusiasm.

The initiative promotes and supports quality work experience for the benefit of ICT students, companies and the economy, the ministry said.

It was launched at a business breakfast yesterday which attracted around 70 Maltese firms.

Companies can register for the scheme online through the Smart-island website at www.thesmartisland.gov.mt. Registrations will be accepted until May 23. Further information can be sought from Fiona Pace on 2125 5495 or fiona.pace@gov.mt.
