Former deputy speaker Carmelo Abela this morning will officially announce his candidacy for the post of MLP deputy leader for parliamentary affairs. Thirty-six year-old Mr Abela, who hails from Żejtun, is married and has two children. He is a supervisor at HSBC and is his party's main spokesman for education, youth, sports and culture. The only other declared candidate for the post is MP Angelo Farrugia.
