New chairman for maritime authority

Mark Portelli has been appointed chairman of the Malta Maritime Authority. He has also been re-appointed as chairman of the Malta Freeport Corporation, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said yesterday.

Mr Portelli has served as a director and chairman of the Malta Freeport Terminals Ltd. He also served as chairman of the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation plc since its formation last year.

The other directors at the maritime authority are Charles Grech, deputy chairman and Alfred Aquilina, Joe Degabriele, Andrew Sacco, Stephen Muscat, Francesca Mamo and Luisa Bonello as directors.

Mr Grech has also been appointed deputy chairman of the Malta Freeport Corporation and Mr Aquilina as a director.

Is this Portelli the same guy who's family owns Virtu Ferries?? Isn't this a clear conflict of interest? Dr Gatt plse explain and try to start widening your choices plse!! PM should start watching Dr Gatt's appointments.
