Dr Philip von Brockdorff has been Chairman of the Institute of Public Administration (IPAM), jointly run by the Public Service and the University of Malta.

The Department of Information said that Dr von Brockdorff, who is replacing the Principal Permanent Secretary as Chair of the Institute, has the task of intensifying and concluding preparations for the setting up of the Centre for Policy, Research and Training.

In the last Budget, government had provided the seed money for the setting up of this Centre which is to be developed in partnership with the University of Malta.

The strategic aims of the Centre are to:

(a) train and develop public employees

(b) carry out research on national priorities and on strategic issues facing the Maltese public sector and

(c) develop and maintain a sustainable first class training centre.

“Discussions with the University of Malta have now reached an advanced stage and the Office of the Prime Minister considers that it should appoint Dr von Brockdorff to manage the conclusion of the process leading to the setting up of this Centre,” the DOI said.

Dr von Brockdorff was Permanent Secretary in the former Ministry of Rural Affairs and the Environment
