Until last Saturday I had the impression that Melita had the full rights to broadcast all English Premier League games. This was exactly the reason why I opted for the costliest Sports Extra package.

My impression was, however, very wrong. Last Saturday the game involving my favourite team, Tottenham Hotspur, was just not transmitted. I thought this was a genuine oversight by Melita but upon inquiring with the ever-helpful customer care service I was told that Melita did not have the rights to broadcast this match.

I was, cheekily enough, even told to watch the West Ham or Middlesbrough matches instead, never mind that football fans prefer to watch their favourite team. In the meantime, just to put everyone into the picture, only three other Premier League games were taking place at the same time and Channels 704, 705 and 706 were transmitting nothing at all, just a blank screen with the numbers 4, 5 and 6 going around.

Can someone from Melita illuminate us, paying customers?
