Tip off leads to arrest of suspected burglar

A man is expected to be charged in court after he was allegedly caught in possession of stolen goods in Birkirkara early yesterday morning.

The police said that Msida district officers who were on patrol were tipped off that suspicious noises were heard inside an establishment in Valley Road. The officers, aided by policemen from the Birkirkara district, launched a search in the area indicated to them and after a while spotted a man hiding behind tall grass at the back of the establishment.

The police said tools normally used by burglars were found and investigations led them to a stolen car. Inside the car, the police said they found items that were allegedly stolen from the Valley Road establishment.

The suspect was held and the investigations may throw light on other burglaries from the same establishment, the police said.

Investigations are being conducted by the Birkirkara district police.
