In front of St Augustine's church, in Old Bakery Street, Valletta there is a zebra-crossing which is very useful to passers-by.
It is, however, very dangerous, the reason being that with cars parked too close to it, pedestrians need to step out into the road to see if vehicles are coming down the hill before crossing. One particular vehicle that is parked there regularly is a jeep.
A few days ago I met a warden near her car in front of the church and told her about the danger that exists. I guess she could not care less. I wonder whether wardens are there to help the citizenry or solely to make moneyfor the company they work for.
