Olympiakos: Olympiakos were officially crowned Greek champions yesterday when the Super League ratified the final table after a legal block was cleared. The league's move followed a decision by the Lausanne-based Court of Arbitration for Sport to reject an appeal by Apollon Kalamaria. Apollon had appealed against a Greek Football Federation decision to overturn their 1-0 win over Olympiakos on Feb. 3 because Kalamaria had fielded an ineligible player. AEK Athens finished in second place, two points behind.

Cruyff: Former Barcelona player and coach Johan Cruyff believes the team can put aside their poor form in the league and overcome Manchester United in the semi-finals of the Champions League. "Despite the slip-ups in the league, my thoughts haven't changed - Europe is different," the Dutchman said. "I'm convinced they've got a chance if they don't do anything stupid."

Buffon: Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has backed team-mate Alessandro Del Piero to earn an Italy recall after the striker's hat-trick in Sunday's 4-0 win at Atalanta. "It is his best season since I have been at Juve and he deserves to be called up for Euro 2008," the Azzurri keeper said.

PSG: The chairman of struggling Paris SG, Alain Cayzac, has decided to resign, the Ligue 1 club said. A 3-0 defeat at Caen on Saturday left PSG in danger of relegation. The team, French League Cup winners three weeks ago, lie 18th in the standings, three points adrift of Racing Lens, the first club above the drop zone, with four games to play.

Gurpegi: Athletic Bilbao midfielder Carlos Gurpegi will make his first competitive appearance after completing a two-year doping ban in Sunday's league match against Real Madrid. Gurpegi received his ban after testing positive for a metabolite of the banned steroid nandrolone in 2002 although he said the result occurred because the substance was produced naturally during exercise.

MFA Div. Three: Xghajra Tornadoes vs Ghaxaq 1-1; Mdina Knights vs Zebbug Rangers 2-1.
