Two Iasis boys who have made an impact on age-group swimming recently are Mark Sammut and Matthew Zammit. They have been setting new standards in their respective categories for some time now, thus confirming the faith the club coach Ebi Mohammed-pour and his team have in them.
The two swimmers continued with that trend last weekend during the 5th Age-Group Meeting at Tal-Qroqq Swimming Complex.
Sammut added the 50 metres freestyle Group C record to his growing list of new marks when he clocked 26.63 for the one-lap race, an improvement of 0.06 seconds on the previous best set by Kyle Scerri.
In Group B, Zammit made new inroads in the 50 metres butterfly when he swam the distance in 31.59, seven hundredths of a second inside his own limit registered late last month.
Together with Talisa Pace, of Neptunes, these swimmers have been in the forefront of this sport this season. Besides that, Ryan Gambin has posted new national records in six events.
