Hibs Medsea must wait till next weekend's clash between Depiro and Luxol to know their opponents in the Peugeot League final play-off. Women's basketball champions Hibs warmed up with a significant victory over rivals Depiro.
With veteran Doreen Micallef in good form, Hibs had a good start to pot the opening six points against Depiro. After chalking up their first basket, Depiro upped their game but were unable to close the gap till half-time as Hibs led 24-17.
The opening minutes of the third quarter were fatal for Depiro as they fell further behind - 32-19. Hibs continued to be the better side and held a comfortable 44-25 lead before the last quarter got underway. Depiro could not unsettle Hibs who emerged winners 52-39.
As expected, Sliema had the better of lowly SN Suns. They won 52-36 after changing ends 29-15 ahead.
In a tense match, Kerygma just managed to topple St James in the final minutes. Through sharp shooter Josette Calleja, Kerygma had a strong opening but St James came back to change ends a point behind 18-17.
A 10-2 break as the last quarter got underway, saw St James forging ahead 38-33. Strangely, they were unable to add another point with Kerygma coming back to win 41-38.
