Chelsea earn late 1-1 draw at Anfield in semi-final

Liverpool 1 Chelsea 1

Liverpool and Chelsea drew 1-1 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at Anfield on Tuesday after a stoppage-time own goal from the home side's John Arne Riise.

Dutchman Dirk Kuyt gave Liverpool the lead after 43 minutes when he fired between goalkeeper Petr Cech's legs. Although Chelsea started the better side,

Liverpool gradually gained control of the match but in the fifth minute of injury time Riise headed home an awkward cross from Salomon Kalou to leave the tie balanced for next week's second leg at Stamford Bridge.

The winners will play either Manchester United or Barcelona in the final in Moscow on May 21.
