New MCA chairman announced

Philip Micallef, former CEO of Melita Cable, has been appointed Executive Chairman of the Malta Communications Authority.

The decision was taken by the Cabinet on a recommendation by Communications Minister Austin Gatt

Mr Micallef formerly worked with Philip MSU in Malta, Olivetti in Italy, USA, Switzerland and Spain, SITA and France Telecom Equant (now Orange Business Services) in France. With France Telecom he was also responsible for Carrier Relations and Regulatory Affairs for Southern Europe.

Between 2000 and 2002, Mr Micallef was the government-appointed director on the board of Maltacom plc. He later served as Chief Executive of Malta Enterprise.
