We seem to have regulations that exist only on paper. We should abide by the rules, not just because we are in the EU but also because we are a civilised country. It is shameful the way construction workers - and those living close to ongoing works - are treated.
Shouldn't the structure be covered? Why do we have to constantly put up with the dust that is such a health hazard? Where are the hardhats? Where are the harnesses? Are these workers legal? Maybe the authorities should carry out spot checks, or doesn't this apply to all construction sites?
When some of those working on a construction site in our street were approached by a neighbour asking them to cover the work area, the workers became aggressive and started an argument.
This construction has been going on for almost four years and enough is enough. Shouldn't the local council intervene?
The council office is only one street away; they should ensure that things are done properly, or do they only take notice at election time? Well, this is one vote less for lack of authority.
Mensija Street is a disgrace and the residents are very unhappy about the situation.
