Benigni performance on big screen

Celebrity actor Roberto Benigni's much-anticipated performance at the University on Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. will be projected on maxi screens erected at the campus main quadrangle, Atriju Vassalli, to open up this unique event for the wider public to view. Seating will be also provided and refreshments will be available at the bar. Admission is free of charge.

The Oscar-winning director and actor of Life is Beautiful will be accompanied by the distinguished Prof. Robert Hollander of Princeton University, USA, with whom he will discuss Dante and place his works within a 21st-century context. Both Hollander and Benigni are acknowledged Dante experts, and their debate is expected to bring Dante to life, leading the evening's highlight - Benigni's recitation of the last canto of Dante's Paradiso.

Benigni's extraordinary oratory skills have made his Italian TV show Tutto Dante a runaway hit and a RAI TV crew will be in Malta filming the event. For further information, call tel 2340 2828 or e-mail: comms@um.edu.mt.
