Eight Maltese cyclists are warming up to take part in a 128-km charity cycling event in Sicily on May 2.

Organised by the voluntary organisation Emergency Fire and Rescue Unit (EFRU), money will be raised through cycling tour in Sicily.

After arriving by ferry in Pozzallo, participants will make their way to Siracusa. The mayor of Siracusa will meet the cyclists and the backup team on Via Malta bridge. The team will then make their way back to Pozzallo in time for the 8 p.m. catamaran back to Malta.

Proceeds will go towards the Children's Cancer Support Group Puttinu Cares to purchase two apartments in London. The public may contribute by sending an SMS donation of €3 on 5061 7375 or of €5 on 5061 8079.
