A few weeks before the general election, works had started to refurbish the public garden at St Mary Street, Tarxien, where a monument will be erected shortly in honour of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the village's titular feast.

The general election passed but the works are still half-finished. It seems that the Tarxien council has taken over to continue what the government has failed to carry out.

One has to keep in mind that the area is very close to the Neolithic temples and thus frequented by many tourists.

A telephone box and a bus stop had to be removed but so far neither has been replaced, causing inconvenience to the public.

I appeal to those responsible to see to it that this area is embellished as quickly as possible.
