Brazil face Ghana for Beijing spot

World Cup runners-up Brazil face Ghana today at Beijing's newly-refurbished Workers' Stadium with the last spot in the draw for the Olympic women's soccer tournament up for grabs.

Brazil, who also lost the 2004 Olympic final to the US in extra-time, will be led by last year's World Player of the Year, striker Marta, in their bid to secure a return to the Chinese capital in August.

"We have a lot of respect for Ghana but we'll really be up for this game," coach Jorge Barcellos told FIFA.com.

Brazil, ranked fourth in the world, were reduced to the play-off after losing out to Argentina in the South American qualifiers while Ghana, ranked 45th, finished second in the African competition.

"The advantage in playing the game in Beijing is that it is on neutral ground, it is a one-off game so the girls will have nothing to fear," said Ghana coach Mumuni Gamel.

China has not been a happy hunting ground for the Brazilians recently as they lost the World Cup final to Germany in Shanghai last year.

"We're very confident the Chinese people will again give us their help and support for this decisive match," Barcellos added.

Hosts China, holders US, Argentina, Canada, Japan, Nigeria, North Korea, Germany, Norway, Sweden and New Zealand have qualified.

The draw for the men's and women's Olympic tournaments will take place in Beijing tomorrow evening.
