A 31-year-old man from Attard yesterday pleaded not guilty to 47 charges brought against him.

Magistrate Edwina Grima heard Dennis Cilia plead not guilty to stealing various items from 13 vehicles over a period of six years.

The court took note of the items allegedly stolen that included hi-fi equipment worth over €2,329 (Lm1,000) from a car in St Julians in 2000, items from a company at the Ta' Qali crafts village and a BOV Cashlink card from a car in Attard.

The prosecution told the court that Mr Cilia had allegedly withdrawn €699 (Lm300) in cash from an ATM machine using the BOV card.

He also pleaded not guilty to stealing a winch, an alarm control panel, a set of jumper leads and to assaulting police officers at the police headquarters in Floriana.

Police Inspector Anthony Portelli prosecuted.

Lawyers Josè Herrera and Veronique Dalli were defence counsel.
